For many years scientists have been searching for remains and fossils of dinosaurs. They travel around the world to make great discoveries of dinosaurs so we all can learn and gain more knowledge about those incredible animals and their world, the world before time. Below are some of the great discoveries you should know.

Tyrannosaurus Rex
The most famous fossil of this creature is "Sue" which is now on display at the Field Museum in Chicago . Sue is about 42 feet long; her largest tooth is almost 12 inches. Sue had been unearthed in South Dakota , USA in August 1990. She was one of the most complete skeletons ever found.

Stegosaurus
The very first fossils of Stegosaurus were discovered in 1877 by Professor Othniel C. Marsh in North America area. When the dino's back was uncovered he found that it had large, bony plates on its back, which reminded the professor of roof tiles. This is how Stegosaurus got its name, which means “roofed lizard”.

Velociraptor
In 1972, dinosaur hunters in Mongolia made a great discovery: fossils of a Velociraptor that was locked in battle with a Protoceratops. Though it's not the first finding of Velociraptor's remains, it maybe one of the most famous discovery of dinosaurs.

Diplodocus
The first Diplodocus bones were found in 1877 in Colorado , USA by Samuel Williston, but the bones were incomplete. The very first complete skeleton of Diplodocus was found in 1899, in Wyoming . Since then, Diplodocus has become one of the largest and world's best known dinosaurs.

Oviraptor
This creature was first discovered in Mongolia by members of a 1924 expedition from the American Museum of Natural History. When the scientists first found Oviraptor, its remains were lying on a batch of eggs that thought to belong to Protoceratops. This is how Oviraptor got its name, which means “egg thief”. Later known that the eggs were its own.
